Thanksgiving at the Farm, 2017

Here is a gallery of images from our gathering in November 2017.  Look closely.  You’ll see lots of smiles.  From the JoAnn’s turkey to Paul’s pancakes to the walks around the pond it was a satisfying and joyful celebration of family, place and genuine community.

Kemper & Dave Welcome Estelle Elizabeth

Estelle Elizabeth Gable made her entrance into the world 3/18/2017 at 2:10 pm. Born 6 lbs 10.5 ounces 19.5″ and is doing very well, so am I. Dave was my rock during birth and we’re both abundantly thankful God was watching over us as well. Nurse Kelly that was with us the whole day was truly a blessing from above and I’m so grateful to her. The entire staff who helped us through and has since been keep us both health and educated have been amazing.

Thank you for your prayers!

Kemper, Dave and Estelle!

Remembering Ben

As we approach the first holiday season without Ben and Stan I pulled out this video I did for Ben’s memorial service and it reminded me of Ben’s passion for life and desire to live it to the fullest with family and friends.  It helped me feel better.  Perhaps it will for you too.

2016 Day After Thanksgiving Gathering

It’s that time again to gather for Friday after Thanksgiving at the farm.  We hope you can come. We will have lots of food and good conversation.  For those spending the night, the farm has new mattresses.  Bill will be there from Okinawa. We will miss Ben and Stan and Uncle Fred and Aunt Dorothea.

As usual, we will plan to eat at 1:00 p.m. Alabama time on Friday, November 25.  Please bring a dish to share if you are able.  I don’t know how it works out, but it always does.  I’m bringing a spiral cut ham and green beans.  I hope Mark will bring his great cookies and Jan her purple cabbage cole slaw.

We had a great time last year.  The photos are on our gallery page.  https://wblangfordfamily.org/family-gallery/

We hope you can come.  Let me know if you are able to make it so I can make sure there is a plate on the table for you.  Email me at abrawls@gmail.com or text to 502-338-8024.

Thanks.
Andy

When I think of Thanksgiving, your family comes to mind. Wonderful memories. Memories of family at the farmhouse -with Stan taking almost as many pictures as you – with Ben sitting in Granddaddy’s chair absorbed in the book he was reading. You could tell he enjoyed being with the family he loved even while he read. Your loss this year has been overwhelming.  And yet, I am encouraged in my faith having witnessed the faith of family.

I’m flying to visit George, Wendy and Dylan for Thanksgiving. George and I will enjoy turkey and Wendy will enjoy the veggie sides. We will FaceTime with Jeannie in Jordan and Susan in Japan. Margie has Matt’s family coming to their house. The boys are big enough to eat some great food. We plan to all get together at my house next summer!  It’s so hard to do that.

I will miss cooking and washing up with Malinda. We worked well together.  I need new book suggestions.

I would love for you to visit in SC sometime. I’m not so far from Asheville.

Passing of Aunt Dorothea

Aunt Dorothea died early this morning in Huntsville, AL.  When Craig was with her yesterday, he was able to comDorothea&FredLangfordmunicate with her but her health has been in decline for months.  I visit with Uncle Fred and Aunt Dorothea after Thanksgiving when she had just been released from the hospital but she was very frail even then.

Craig said there would be a small service for the immediate family sometime this week in Huntsville and then she would be buried with Uncle Fred probably on Friday.  The National Cemetery at Montevallo provides space for wives with their husbands.

If you want to send Craig and Desiree a note, here is their address:
4511 Day Road SW
Decatur, AL 35603

I’m grateful for the vitality and perspective Dorothea added to the family and yes for those German chocolate cakes.
